The Four Realms

The Balance of Life and Magic

Think of the universe as a large scale: Mokor is on one pan and Empyrean is on the other.

Orlon is the base and beam that supports the entire structure, dolling out the magic equally.

Light cannot exist without the darkness, but 97% of all living creatures in the universe are inherently good. That means that if you balanced the scales of life on simply good vs evil. Good would overtip the scales and destroy the balance of life.

In order to keep the scales from tipping, The Gods created the living realm.

Every world in the universe orbits around and within the workings of the scale providing a weightlessness and a buffer, never allowing either pan to drop.

The realms are separated by veils.

Without a Druid the veils vanish completely and the scales break. Everything in the universe would be destroyed, including Empyrean and Mokor.

Mokor wants the Druid to exist to prevent cataclysmic apocalypse but they want to corrupt the Druid to prevent them from resealing the veils when they become thin enough to bass through.

The Hierarchy of Magic

Light Magic: All that is good. The entire universe and the balance of life depends on light magic that originates from the Gods in Empyrean. We all have a little bit of light magic in us that is the spark of life.

Innate Magic: Exists beyond our understanding or comprehension. It simply is. It cannot be manipulated, modified or nullified by any person or substance.

Tangible magic: As its name implies, anything tangible that we can see, hear, feel, taste or touch. There are many ways in which tangible magic exists. Those born in the magical realm are blessed with magic flowing through their blood and grants them extraordinary gifts.

Elemental magic: A form of intangible magic. The gems and stones that are harvested in the magical realm contain various magics that can be utilized by anyone whether they themselves possess magic or not.

Intangible magic: Powers of the mind. Other than a few select creatures who may possess telepathy or superficial empathy, intangible magic is rare and not much is known about it.

Rune magic: Can be utilized by anyone who has tangible magic running through their blood. Runes can affect tangible and intangible magic in various ways, but they cannot affect innate magic.

Dark magic is the corruption of any of the previous magics. Anyone who uses any form of magic to bring about harm, imbalance or destruction will be infected permanently, and their souls are damned. When they are eventually caught or die, they will be banished to Mokor where they will forever never know happiness, satiety or pleasure. The soul eventually withers away into demon hood. If a demon escapes the realm of Mokor…well The Gods help us all.
